On August 28, the three-day Formnext Shenzhen 2026 officially came to a close.
At this year’s event, iSUN3D showcased its latest 3D printing equipment, flexible materials, foot scanning technologies, and a wide range of application solutions.
From equipment and materials to real-world applications, iSUN3D demonstrated the growing potential of flexible 3D printing across industries including footwear, smart wearables, robotics, and industrial manufacturin
The new DLP printer was also showcased live at the exhibition and attracted strong interest from visitors and industry professionals.
iSUN3D Vice General Manager Zhu Shu delivered a keynote presentation titled:
“Applications of Flexible 3D Printing Manufacturing in the Footwear Industry.”
The presentation explored the application of single-component flexible resins and DLP technologies in footwear, as well as real-world examples from customized digital manufacturing ecosystems.
01. Two New Product Lines
DLP × FDM: Expanding the Possibilities of Flexible Manufacturing
LUXT 380 DLP 3D Printer
Designed for efficient flexible manufacturing, the LUXT 380 features a large industrial build volume of 384 × 240 × 400 mm and supports printing two shoes in a single build.
With printing speeds of 100–150 mm/h, the system helps improve production efficiency for flexible products and small-batch manufacturing.
Combined with the FlexOne Series single-component flexible resin, LUXT 380 supports applications including:
- 3D-printed footwear
- Smart wearables
- Flexible functional components
- Humanoid robotics
NEXT Series FDM 3D Printer
The NEXT Series introduces a dual-material manufacturing approach, combining flexible materials and high-strength engineering materials.
With a maximum build volume of 520 × 520 × 1200 mm and printing speeds of up to 500 mm/s, the system is designed for a wider range of industrial manufacturing applications.
From flexible materials such as TPU, TPE, and PEBA, to high-performance engineering materials including nylon and carbon-fiber composites, one platform can support diverse manufacturing needs.
02. Robotics Applications
From Rigid Structures to Flexible Components
Robotics was one of the major highlights at the iSUN3D booth.
By combining engineering materials, flexible materials, and lattice structures, iSUN3D demonstrated how 3D printing can support both rigid structural components and flexible functional parts in robotics.
For structural components, the robot body was printed using eSUN PA6-CF and PLA+ filaments, demonstrating the potential of FDM composite materials for lightweight robotic structures while maintaining strength and rigidity.
For areas requiring flexibility and cushioning, such as the robot’s palm, iSUN3D FlexOne 55 flexible resin was used.
Combined with lattice structure design, the material can deliver different levels of flexibility, cushioning, and mechanical response.
From high-strength structures to functional parts requiring flexibility, shock absorption, and elasticity, different materials and printing technologies can work together to create more adaptable robotic manufacturing solutions.
03. Foot Scanning Technology
From Foot Data to Personalized 3D Printing
In addition to 3D printing equipment, iSUN3D also showcased its 3D foot scanner and dynamic plantar pressure measurement system.
Together, these technologies further expand the digital workflow from foot data collection to customized 3D printed manufacturing.
The foot scanning system transforms real foot geometry into digital data, providing a foundation for applications such as:
- Personalized footwear
- Customized lattice soles
- 3D-printed orthotic solutions
From scanning, to design, and finally to printing, digital technologies are creating new possibilities for footwear manufacturing and personalized production.
04. Two Material Awards
FlexOne Resin × TPU-95A Receive Industry Recognition
During the exhibition, the first International 3D Printed Footwear Design Awards also recognized two iSUN3D-related materials with industry awards.
iSUN3D FlexOne Flexible Resin received the LatticEdge Footwear Material Award (UV-Curable Category) for its performance in 3D-printed lattice footwear and flexible structure applications.
eSUN TPU-95A received the Filament Forge Material Award (FDM Category) for its performance in flexible FDM printing applications.
These two awards — recognizing both FDM flexible filament and UV-curable flexible resin — represent further recognition of iSUN3D’s continued innovation and exploration in flexible materials and additive manufacturing applications.
